Alex Lukens.

Lecturer of Emerging Media Design and Development

Alex Lukens is a lecturer in Ball State University’s Department of Journalism. He holds an MA in Film & Media Studies from Emory University of Atlanta, Georgia. Since 2009, Lukens has been a freelance visual storyteller.  He has worked as an editor, videographer, and cinematographer on documentaries, industrials, and music videos. 

In 2015, Lukens was awarded the Idea Capital Grant for his film High Fructose Suicide Booth. If that’s not impressive enough, Lukens also assisted in the production of Stranger Things, Season 1 and Vampire Diaries, Season 5. In the last decade, Lukens has worked on over 30 films. Most recently, Lukens directed and produced the 2018 short film I’m Working On It.

His interests include film production, cinema studies, promotion and exhibition, participatory culture, gimmicks, cults of personality, transmedia storytelling, user experience, empathy research, professional wrestling, and body genres.
