EMDD Orientation Guide

The Center for Emerging Media Design & Development uses two types of design processes: design thinking and user-centered design. While either of these processes can be used to understand problems and design solutions, we’ll use each of them in a very specific way. All EMDD students participate in a one-day orientation at the start of Fall semester to explore how these concepts play out in our two-year master’s degree program.

Change by Design, by Tim Brown

The foundation of EMDD is built upon design thinking. This book lays the groundwork for much of what we’ll discuss in the coming two years. Please read this before orientation, and we’ll discuss the book as a group during dinner.
